Sword dances are a tradition of north -east England. A group of 6 or 8 people each holding a wooden sword move around to complete various figures which involve stepping over or turning under the other swords in the group. You can see an example of this on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYMd-E54h0I of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO8dzcmAgqQ
